Author: Eric Huber moonlight@hubernet.com Release Date: January 18, 2002 Version Info: Version 4.0a The RMdB 4.x script represents a complete rewrite of version 3 with many added enhancements that have have come through requests made by users of version 3. The intent of these scripts is to provide a database that can be utilized by other LDS Mission Network webmasters allowing each to customize various aspects of their database pages. The databases themselves are nothing more than ASCII - delimited files and require no special database engine or external packages to implement. There are no index files required either and this allows for more search capabilities but also requires that databases generally stay small in the number of records that they contain. Databases with more than two to three thousand alumni will probably notice performance issues when using this database and will want to look at a different solution. However, if you have less than two to three thousand alumni records, the RMdB 4.x database will most likely have better performance than a SQL-based database. This type of database, then, is ideally suited for mission alumni databases. For a more in-depth look at the enhancements that version 4 provides, please look at the README file (see below). The RMdB 4.x script is available to download below at no cost to other LDS Mission Network affiliated webmasters only. The script has been developed and used in a Unix/Linux environment. It may run under other environments but I will not guarantee that it will. In order to be able to run the script, you must have cgi-bin access through your provider. To see a working copy of the script and the database click on the link below. Feel free to play around with it and add or change whatever information and settings that you would like to. The administrator password is master. If you have any other questions, feel free to contact me by email or phone Eric Huber Work Phone: (801) 297-1654 Home Phone: (801) 299-0851 | ||
